Bayonetta sold more than a million copies
SEGA confirms that Bayonetta sold approximately 1.1 million units in the past 9 months, making the game rank 2nd top game by December 31. Platinum actioner was beaten by Mario and Sonic at the Olympic winter games.
The games that ranked in the top 5 spots are as follows:
Ranking first is Mario and Sonic at the Olympics winter games [for Wii and DS platforms] selling 5.67 million units. Bayonetta came in second [for PS3 and 360 platforms] selling 1.1 million units and then third came in Football Manager 2010 [PSP and PC] at 740 K units and at fourth came Phantasy Star Portable 2 [PSP] selling 540K units and then at fifth came Platinum actioner.
Though these games, then, weren’t released in Japan yet until January so these figures are only partial as to what they have earned now, although SEGA listed these games as “US, EUROPE and JAPAN” so the final results may have a slight disarray to that of what is tallied above.
The amount of units that they have sold are somewhat telling their producers that the gamers are ready for a sequel and they just can seem to wait, basing on their looks.
