Survey: 52% of PSP users are actually female
Now we don’t mean to undermine the female gaming population but when people speak about video gaming, they would immediately think about male gamers. For those who think that this is true you are seriously mistaken because according to Nielsen, a US market research firm, majority of the PSP owners are actually female claiming 52% of the total PSP gaming population. But it doesn’t stop there though because from the total population of Wii owners in the US, a staggering 49% of that total population is female, only 1% short of being equal to the male Wii gaming population.
Furthermore, Nielsen also included in their survey that 45% of the total active gamers in the states are female. More from the survey said that 73 percent of US homes own a device that is specific for gaming and 54 percent of that 73 percent either own a console or a handheld gaming device.
According to Nielsen, the Xbox 360 wins the top game consoles in the states which surmounted to about 23.1 percent of the population, the PS2 got PS2 20.4 percent, and the Wii got 19.0 percent.
So this is basically a new perspective in the gaming community and we would think that you would think twice about putting off a female as a gamer.
